James Harlow is an artist and spatial designer whose practice asks how design might respond to landscapes that cannot be restored. Working between material research and documentation, he develops seaweed-based alternatives to plastic alongside archival imaging, cyanotype and narrative text, recording shorelines in active erosion. His work questions the institutional impulse towards sanitised preservation and proposes approaches to design grounded in approximation, care and bearing witness to loss.
